Alice’s English Summer Camp Work Experience

19. July. 2025

This summer, Alice Callender, one of our former native English and English Civilisation teachers, organised her own English summer camp based in the beautiful location of Nagykovácsi. Five of our Avicenna Grade 11 students, Dalibor, Margo, Grácia, Setayesh and Karim, signed up to support her on this project and were absolutely fantastic in making the camp a huge success (especially when a huge storm hit the first day of camp and they needed to have a “rain check” on the outdoor scavenger hunt!).

Each camp assistant led their own team and projects throughout the week showcasing their strengths, contributing to a lively and engaging programme packed with activities for the 20 children attending.

At the end of the week, they enjoyed a well-deserved pizza night as a team to celebrate after such an exhausting, but truly fantastic experience with an energetic group of kids.

Alice will certainly be looking for more volunteers in future years — a brilliant opportunity for students to gain excellent hands-on experience, take on valued responsibilities, and work closely with teachers in a new setting. Not only is it a rewarding and fun way to spend the summer, but it’s also a great addition to CVs and future university applications.
