On 19 December, Avicenna School marked the last teaching day before the Christmas break with a memorable Student Council Day held outdoors in the heart of City Park (Városliget), Budapest. Instead of classrooms and timetables, the day brought together around 50 Avicenna students, including participants from the AMFP programme, for a joyful and community-building ice-skating experience.

The choice of location could not have been more fitting. The City Park ice rink, surrounded by winter scenery and historic buildings, offered a festive atmosphere that perfectly matched the spirit of the season. Wrapped in scarves and gloves, students arrived with excitement and anticipation, ready to celebrate the end of the term in an active and social way.

For many students, the ice rink was a place to test new skills, overcome challenges, and support one another. Some confidently glided across the ice, while others took their first cautious steps, helped by friends and encouraged by laughter. The inclusive nature of the event ensured that everyone could participate at their own pace, whether skating energetically, practicing balance near the edge, or simply enjoying the shared experience.

The presence of both the high school and AMFP students made the day especially meaningful, strengthening connections across programmes and year groups. Conversations flowed easily, new friendships formed, and existing ones grew stronger. The outdoor setting encouraged teamwork, resilience, and mutual encouragement -values that lie at the heart of the Avicenna community.

As a Student Council Day, the event also highlighted the importance of student voice and well-being. By stepping outside the traditional school environment, students were reminded that learning and personal development extend beyond the classroom. Physical activity, social interaction, and time spent in nature all contributed to a sense of balance after a demanding academic term.

The ice-skating day concluded with tired legs, rosy cheeks, and plenty of smiles. More importantly, it left students with shared memories and a strong feeling of togetherness as they headed into the Christmas holidays. Ending the term with such a positive, festive, and active event was a fitting way to celebrate the year’s achievements and to wish everyone a well-earned break and a joyful holiday season.
