Grade 12 students’ visit to the International Education Fair
January the 10th was another special day at Avicenna. We gathered grade 12 students in the 3rd lesson with Mr Reza, our distinguished photographer, Maurizio, our guest, job shadowing Italian teacher and Mr Steve the form master of G12 and school principal to take them to the Hungexpo by bus where the biggest national higher education fair took place.
The Educational Fair is organised every year in January and visited by a number of school groups and lasts usually 3 consecutive days but this one we visited was the biggest one so far. The students were prepared for the Fair beforehand by explaining to them the significance and usefulness of such an educational exhibition. Every higher educational institute in Hungary was present and we also spotted university tents from Belgian, Swiss, German and Austrian universities.
Our students were interested mainly in medical universities, German speaking universities, and technical universities. We spent about 3 hours in the Expo Pavilions to explore and discover what unis had to offer and lay our hands on practical devices like robotics and mechanical tools. There was also one of the latest generation armoured vehicles on site, grade 12 boys took advantage of such a rare sight and jumped in the vehicle to try how it can be operated through smart technology.
It was a great experience and we left fully packed with not only ideas and a lot of extra and useful information on specifique universities but also with bags of brochures and promotional materials that we could further explore back at the school. We will definitely return next year!
