Field Trip Report:
Light Art Museum, Budapest

Grade 10 – Physics Lesson

On February 10th, the Grade 10 students participated in an educational field trip to the Light Art Museum in Budapest as part of their physics curriculum on waves and optics. This visit provided them with an opportunity to observe real-world applications of the concepts they had studied during the first semester in a creative and immersive environment.

The Light Art Museum is renowned for its unique exhibitions that merge art and science, particularly focusing on the interplay of light, reflections, and optical illusions. The students were able to witness how various optical phenomena—such as interference, diffraction, reflection, and refraction—were incorporated into the museum’s installations. These exhibits helped reinforce their understanding of the theoretical principles they had previously learned in class.

One of the highlights of the trip was the presence of Ms. Rezaei, their physics teacher, who accompanied them and provided insightful explanations about the scientific principles behind each art piece. She connected the exhibits with the laws of physics to make the experience even more engaging and educational. Clarification of complex concepts in a way that was both interactive and enjoyable made the students excited about the museum.

The students were particularly fascinated by installations featuring laser light, holograms, and mirror reflections, as these provided hands-on experiences of the physics behind light behavior. By seeing how artists utilize wave properties to create stunning visual effects, the students gained a deeper appreciation for the practical applications of optics beyond the classroom.

Overall, the field trip was a great success. It not only reinforced their academic learning but also inspired curiosity and creativity. The students left the museum with a stronger understanding of physics and a newfound admiration for how science and art can be seamlessly combined.
