Personal Report on TED 6 IT in Classroom

CENTER: Twin English Center Dublin

COURSE DURATION : 18.75 hours and spanning 5 days, the duration of this training was from 2023.03.21 till 2023.08.25.

I had a great opportunity to participate in the TED 6 IT in Classroom Training. This training program was aimed at enhancing our knowledge and skills in integrating Information Technology (IT) into the classroom environment. In this report, I will reflect on my experiences, implementation of the acquired knowledge  in my professional front as  a teacher.

First day at the center, The induction day, typically an event organized to welcome newcomers and provide essential information about the institution, their policies, course or other essential information, is expected to run smoothly and efficiently. However, the experience was different from what I anticipated. It gave me the impression that only on my insistence did they provide us with the IT course, otherwise we had ended up joining the English language course.

  • We were only two students for the IT course and I managed to give an introduction presentation. Having a small sized class had both advantages and disadvantages. On the positive side, it can allow for more personalized attention from our teacher and a closer-knit learning environment. However, I did not have scope for networking opportunities, which could have been an important aspect of this training program.
  • Our teacher Malcolm provided the print version of the courses which was really helpful and we could revise what we studied earlier. Having physical study materials can be beneficial for other learners,
  • We had many topics for discussions which we thoroughly enjoyed and had our 100 percent active participation. Though I am not currently a teacher, however I shared my earlier teaching experience with great enthusiasm.
  • Video Conferencing Tools: Examples: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet. We learned how to How to Use: These tools enable live virtual classes. You can schedule and host online lectures, facilitate discussions, and share your screen to present content. Record sessions for students who can’t attend in real-time.
  • Due to only two participants including me, networking opportunities were limited.
  • The content was mainly theoretical rather than having more practical application.
  • By integrating technology effectively and in a balanced way, I hope to contribute to improved student learning outcomes and digital

Conclusion:

The TED 6 IT in Classroom Training has been a valuable and transformative experience for me. It has not only equipped me with the knowledge and skills necessary to integrate technology effectively into my classroom, eventually enhancing the engagement of students and making the learning more productive. contributing to my professional growth also the strong desire to switch back to teaching. I look forward to implementing what I have learned and continuing my journey toward becoming a more tech-savvy educator. Moreover I have learned the integration of technology in class should be in balance to make the learning process more effective and enjoyable.
