AIC Celebrates World Kidney Day with Inspiring Talks and a New Initiative
To mark World Kidney Day (WKD), Avicenna International College (AIC) hosted a special event focused on kidney health and education. Students had the opportunity to listen to Dr. László Rosivall, Professor Emeritus of Semmelweis University and founder of the Hungarian Kidney Foundation. In his engaging presentation, Dr. Rosivall highlighted key discoveries in contemporary kidney research and shared a personal story about how he proposed the idea of WKD to the International Society of Nephrology, making this global awareness day a reality.
Following his talk, AIC President Dr. Shahrokh MirzaHosseini took the stage to announce an upcoming publication and a competition centered around the eight thematic units of The Kidney Book. This initiative is particularly exciting, as The Kidney Book is the first coursebook designed to provide high school students with an in-depth and interactive understanding of the kidneys. Additionally, the WKD 2026 Competition will encourage students to expand, adapt, and apply their knowledge through a creative and competitive learning experience.
