We are excited to announce some significant updates to our Foundation Programs at Avicenna International College. These changes are designed to better reflect the academic content and career pathways offered by each program. Effective immediately, the following updates have been made:

The purpose of the unique Pető method is to provide assistance to children and young adults with motor disabilities originating from the damage to the central nervous system. The András Pető Faculty (PAK) of Semmelweis University, founded in 1950, holds the esteemed legacy of András Pető and serves as a global hub for conductive education. The faculty, led by Dean Dr. Andrea Zsebe Miklósné Tenk, is dedicated to advancing its education programs in both Hungarian and English, fostering collaborations with other higher education institutions. At the end of April, we held our first dissemination event about a new initiative at AIC: Our Model UN Club and shared some insights of our participation in the Model UN – BIMUN Conference. The teachers, Ms. Emese, Mr. Márk, and 5 chosen students have been working assiduously on a so-called ‘Pilot year’ of Model UN and preparing its implementation fully into our annual curriculum and school-year schedule.

In March 2023, Avicenna International College (“Avicenna”) signed a memorandum of understanding with Corvinus University of Budapest. Avicenna is a unique local high school in Budapest, that teaches Hungarian curriculum in English language to predominantly international students. Although the University has more than 250 international partners and works with many of the leading high schools in Hungary, this agreement is the first of its kind for Corvinus. On the 24th of November, AIC students visited Gül Baba's tomb in the Buda district of Rózsadomb. Gül Baba (born in Merzifon, present-day Turkey) was a Dervish member of the Ottoman empire in Buda, who died in 1541. This beautiful türbe (meaning tomb in Turkish) is the northernmost Islamic pilgrimage site in the world and is regarded as a significant part of Hungary's historical heritage as it was left unharmed during the Habsburg invasion and the consequent World Wars.

In addition to its regular cultural programmes partly inbuilt in the curriculum, AIC strives to offer its students, both in the secondary and foundation department, a variety of optional quality leisure time activities outside school hours, but within the school framework. Therefore, at the end of the summer, AIC started exploring the possibility of extracurricular activities such as learning drumming under the aegis of AIC.
