ERASMUS + projects and opportunities
Following the first-ever successfully obtained grant for a short-term Erasmus project last year, Avicenna International College has managed to win funding worth 41.837 EUR for the mobility of 27 AIC students and teachers in the second short-term Erasmus tender as well for 2022-23.
In the following, you can read about our colleagues’ and students’ experiences they gained during their trips to various EU cities to take courses in a variety of subjects for the benefit of the whole AIC Community. This page is continually updated as the mobilities are being completed.
BARCELONA

FOLIGNO
Preparations for our student Erasmus group mobility in March in Italy
In early September, on the 12th and 13th, I spent two days in Foligno to prepare an Erasmus group mobility activity for ten carefully selected AIC students for March 2023.

MALTA
Creative use of Technology in the classroom
Representing the Avicenna International College from Budapest, I took part in a ten-day programme titled: Creative use of Technology in the Classroom at the Alpha School of English in St. Paul’s Bay, Malta with the very sympathetic and enthusiastic trainer Maria Mifsud. I had been learning a lot of web pages and apps I can use in the classroom works – some of them seemed very useful. There were websites for collaborative classroom work, others for the motivations of the students or tests. The course changed my attitude of use the webpages in the classroom – after the Erasmus+ course I started to use these new applications during my work. I also enjoyed my time in Malta – the history of this little country was so special, the nature was amazing, and the beaches were so warm.

ROME
ICT Tools for a Creative and Collaborative Classroom
Title of the 12-month-long Erasmus Project at Avicenna International College in Budapest:
Building bridges between EU schools to provide opportunities for our pupils of today and tomorrow.
This experience was the very first one for me since I have been a teacher in secondary education only for a couple of years. Even though I did learn about ICT tools and had the opportunity to improve these skills of mine during my university studies, this one-week course gave me a chance to gain further professional ICT skills and acquire a deeper and more elaborate knowledge on specific applications.

Florence (Firenze)
Conflict Management, Emotional Intelligence and Bullying Prevention
I took part in this programme as the first mobility of our second Erasmus project involving 7 teachers and 2 groups of students at my international high school Avicenna International College in Budapest, called: Building bridges between EU schools to provide opportunities for our pupils of today and tomorrow.

ROME
ICT Tools for a Creative and Collaborative Classroom
This mobility experience was the second in a row for me in the 12 months long Erasmus project of our Avicenna International College in Budapest:
Building bridges between EU schools to provide opportunities for our pupils of today and tomorrow.
I picked this course because my ICT skills definitely needed a good polishing to be able to use an ever-increasing array of digital platforms in the classroom to make teaching not only all the more interesting but also more up-to-date in line with the latest developments to help the progression of our students. What I was after in particular was PBL and the collaborative approach put into practice.

PRAUGE
Approaching Multicultural Issues and Mixed Ability Classes
I took part in this amazing mobility course offered by the International training center in Prague between 5th to 9th December of 2022. On the first day, we had a very friendly welcome by David Brož, the manager and also by our trainer Denisa Mouchová and then David smoothly finalized our registration for the course and then collected our documents that needed to be signed by ITC. I should mention that they had a very organized and professional approach all through the course. The group was so great that everyone felt like part of a family sharing their experience and being extremely friendly and approachable. The group included 3 teachers from Greece, 3 from Spain, 2 from Reunion island and me from Hungary.

FOLIGNO
At Avicenna we started in this year of 2023 to give our most dedicated and hard-working students unparalleled opportunities to take part in travel and study programmes in the so-called Erasmus Group Mobilities as part of our Erasmus projects, supported by the EU Commission, intent on a full swing internationalisation. These mobilities bring us closer to other EU high schools deepening ties at every level and building long lasting relationships for academic, career and friendship purposes.

DUBLIN
Avicenna students in Ireland: Exploring History, Culture, and Coastlines – A Two-Week Erasmus+ Mobility Program
After years of preparation and hard work, AIC was finally given the opportunity to offer short-term Erasmus+ mobility experiences to our high school students. This semester, fully embarking on this project, we have completed two trips: first to Italy with a group of older students, and then to Ireland with another group of the younger ones. Ten students were selected to spend two weeks in Ireland accompanied by their history teacher, Mr. Mark. Within this short-term Erasmus program, we took part in a so-called “Authentic Irish Experience” project which meant that we were accommodated by local Irish families in Dublin for the duration of our stay and took part in a two-week course provided by Apollo Language Center.

ROME
Discovering the Best Educational Systems from Europe and the World
This course held in Rome was the last one out of seven individual teacher courses and training of our 2022-23 Erasmus Project Cycle. I opted for this course because I found its description rather appealing, hoping to learn more about the education systems developed and adopted by different other EU and international schools beyond the EU, through discussion and collaborative learning.
The course itself spanned over a week and was attended by 15 colleagues as teachers and school directors from Belgium, Spain, Romania, Estonia, Croatia, Reunion Island and myself from Hungary.

Stress Relief and Well-being Strategies for Teachers
My choice of course was a different one regarding structured educational visits but unfortunately that one was cancelled with my accommodation and flight ticket already booked so I had to look elsewhere and I found this. I knew the location and as it turned out the trainer Olga as well, from a previous course which was an unexpected surprise.
My favourite adage was that perceived stress makes us sick, which is truly thought provoking and it makes a lot of sense especially when we look into the hormonal and nervous system interactions as well. During one of our casual conversations, it struck me that having a constant company is a milestone for longevity as for example in Sardinia people in many times simple-primitive communities live very long since they are always in each other’s company (they never feel lonely and abandoned therefore stressed and outcast), even though they do not always eat healthy and are chain-smokers.
