On the 11th of November 2022, G11 visited the famous Fiume Graveyard. This extracurricular program was organized by their history teacher, Márk Máté, with the goal of providing AIC students the opportunity to expand their knowledge on the historical era and the people being discussed in school. The program was centered around the stories, tombs and mausoleums of Hungarian intellectuals, politicians and army officers who took an active role in the Reform Era and the Revolution and War of Independence of 1848-49. We visited the resting places of some of the country’s greatest political leaders [...]

I chose Europass Teacher Academy as a course provider based on my earlier positive experience with them. Recently, in the post-Covid era they embarked on a massive expansion setting up Study Centres and Studios all over Europe with Florence as [...]

By |2022-10-26T11:38:49+02:00October 20th, 2022|News|0 Comments

Avicenna high school students from grade 10 visited the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library this week. It has been not only a long-cherished goal of the Literature teachers but all of the others to show our teenage students sophisticated learning facilities in the heart of Budapest within an outstanding building, which used to be a Palace (Wenckheim Palace) owned by an aristocrat family in the XIX. century. The library itself started to operate in 1904. The richly ornamented iron gates from the street made us anticipate the magnificent interior of the mainly baroque building. Having loaded the lockers with [...]

Grade 12 Graduation Ceremony

By |2022-06-24T09:31:21+02:00June 10th, 2022|News|0 Comments

On the 10th of June, we revived the good old tradition of holding a Graduation Ceremony at the Avicenna. During the two years of Covid it wasn’t possible to hold such a high-profile gathering so this year we did it, as a much-anticipated social event. It was a heart-warming sight to see parents and relatives and teachers of our 10 graduating students filling one of our largest classrooms, room 314 on the first floor. So much so that the rest of the AIC students could be seated only in the corridor. The graduating students were led to the [...]

Lindau Deutschcamp

By |2023-01-13T10:55:01+01:00May 2nd, 2022|News|0 Comments

As an innovation regarding our German language programme at the AIC, we decided to give the opportunity to 11 students to spend a week in the Bavarian city Lindau at our partner language school Dialoge. The students stayed with specially selected German host families. We took an ÖBB train from the Keleti Train Station and entered Germany through the Austrian city Salzburg. The Austrian Alpine scenery, watched from the train, was just simply ‘wunderschön’. We changed trains in Munich and continued with the DB down to the Swiss border to reach our destination Lindau. Germany is full of opportunities [...]

From the Avicenna International College (AIC) in Budapest, I took part in an Erasmus short term mobility course in the Eternal City in the first week of December 2021 as part of our project called Building a network in the field of education within the EU. The name of the course organised by our host Alessandro Gariano from Enjoy Italy was: Cultural Heritage Education and Storytelling. I took this opportunity for a variety of reasons, mainly to acquire novel approaches to education in the 21st century, to get the chance to meet international colleagues for future cooperation to then organise [...]
