The students of the Foundation Program at Avicenna International College had the opportunity to participate in a retake session for their semi-final exams last week. The session was open to students who were absent during the original exam period, as well as those who wanted to improve their grades. AIC is inviting its high school students for three upcoming cultural activities in the following week. As all the students of our language preparation class have recently arrived in Hungary, we are keen to introduce them the city, its transport, history and its main squares and buildings. Avicenna International College is inviting its bilingual high school students for two upcoming programs on October 12 and 17. One is the now-traditional 45-minute visit to the Hungarian Parliament, which will give an insight both into Hungarian history and the grandiose architecture of the 18th century. The other program is a visit to the Szabó Ervin Library in Budapest with the help of a local English guide, to try to shape and develop the learning habits of our students. The time of the visit was carefully chosen to fall on one of the two days special folklore festivals held once a year, called St. Martin’s day, the first day of winter and the last day before the 40 days of Advent, where feast, balls, fairs used to be held. People ate goose and drank new wine and said: „Eat a goose on St. Martin’s Day or you will starve all year”.

Having met at Szell Kalman Square at 10.30, the six AIC students with the guides took a few minute’s rides by bus (16A)  to the Royal Castle. We started our tour at the Castle side of the medieval city on Castle Hill, which lies and is still inhabited by locals in the heart of the Capital. The construction of the Castle was started by Béla IV. to build a siege-proof residence against the Mongolian invasion in the mid 13th century. The program started in Heroes’ Square, one of the major squares in Budapest, a site of Unesco World Heritage, built for the National Exhibition during the  Millenary Celebrations in 1896. 

Avicenna International College (AIC) has been permitted by the Education Authority of Hungary to provide Distant Learning for English language High School programs (General High school and Natural Sciences High school). Those who complete the program successfully will be granted a high school graduation diploma (Erettsegi) by the Hungarian Government. Some of the students of Avicenna Medical Foundation Program who have arrived in Budapest late due to COVID-19 restrictions met with the President of AIC today on Monday, January 12th, 2021. After an introduction, students raised their questions and shared their concerns and requests. President mentioned that extra classes will be organized for them and all required support will be provided to ensure that the pre-medical students are admitted to one of the Hungarian or other European medical universities.
