On a beautiful autumn day at 9.30 am, 22 students met in Heroes' Square to take part in the first of a series of AIC-organized city tours, called ‘Step in the footsteps of heroes’. Avicenna International College held its first School Camp at the magnificent surroundings of the soft range of Pilis mountains in Csattogó Völgy at Verőce on 4.-5. September. 2023. All the bilingual high school students, along with their teachers, traveled by train from Nyugati Railway station to Verőce where within a 15 mins walk in a lovely forest path, they reached the campsite. In March 2023, Avicenna International College (“Avicenna”) signed a memorandum of understanding with Corvinus University of Budapest. Avicenna is a unique local high school in Budapest, that teaches Hungarian curriculum in English language to predominantly international students. Although the University has more than 250 international partners and works with many of the leading high schools in Hungary, this agreement is the first of its kind for Corvinus. This April Avicenna International College organised the German Travel and Study programme called Lindau Deutsch camp for the second time in a row. The programme was fully funded by AIC, the students had to pay for their train tickets only. This time around we had 11 GFP students and one high school student from Grade 11 accompanied by Frau Ágota as the leader of German language education at AIC and Herr Steve, AIC principal and Travel and Study programme manager. At Avicenna we started in this year of 2023 to give our most dedicated and hard-working students unparalleled opportunities to take part in travel and study programmes in the so-called Erasmus Group Mobilities as part of our Erasmus projects, supported by the EU Commission, intent on a full swing internationalisation. These mobilities bring us closer to other EU high schools deepening ties at every level and building long lasting relationships for academic, career and friendship purposes. After long preparations, AIC launched its programme of visits to the Library of the Hungarian Parliament in mid-February 2023. Our first group of nine high school students and three teachers set off after their lessons to visit the 150-year-old, grandiose library, where they were given a half-hour summary on books on Hungarian and international law, political science, history, their lending facilities, a brief history of the library, and then a memorable walk in a place in an atmosphere that could provide a quality learning environment for some of our high school students after they turn 18.
