On the 7th, 8th and 11th of November the students and teachers of the AIC Diploma Programs participated in a cultural program of Budapest city tour starting from Heroes’ square and touching the City Park, Széchenyi Spa, the Városliget Ice Rink, Vajdahunyad Castle, the Budapest Zoo, Gundel Restaurant, Andrássy Avenue, Octagon Square, the Hungarian Opera House, and St Stephens’ Basilica - the largest church in Budapest. Having met at Szell Kalman Square at 10.30, the six AIC students with the guides took a few minute’s rides by bus (16A)  to the Royal Castle. We started our tour at the Castle side of the medieval city on Castle Hill, which lies and is still inhabited by locals in the heart of the Capital. The construction of the Castle was started by Béla IV. to build a siege-proof residence against the Mongolian invasion in the mid 13th century. Semmelweis Bronze Statueat Avicenna International College On November 8th, 2019 at 8 pm the bronze bust of Semmelweis was inaugurated at the entrance of Avicenna International College on the occasion of the 200th birth of Ignac Semmelweis, the Hungarian physician best known as the "Savior of Mothers". This fabulous piece of artwork was created by Istvan Madarassy, the Kossuth Award winner, a widely respected sculpturist famous for his unique fire-on-cupper works. Academic Year 2019 - 2020 Avicenna Foundation Programs start on September 16, 2019. Avicenna International College is celebrating its 25th anniversary, "25 Years of Excellence". The high school programs of this academic year have already started and next week on the 16th of September our colleagues will warmly welcome the new students joining the foundation programs.
